Data-only devices approved for use with GSMU high-usage, flat-rate or unlimited plans

What data-only devices are approved for use with GSMU high-usage, flat-rate or unlimited plans?

GSM-U utilizes LTE Bands: 2 (1900MHz), 4 [66] (1700MHz), 5 (850MHz), 12 [17] (700MHz), 25 (1900MHz), 26 (850MHz) and 41 (2.5GHz) and 71 (600MHz)

GSM-U utilizes 5G Bands: n41 (2.5GHz), n71 (600MHz), n77 ("C-Band" 3.7-4.2GHz - future), n260 (39GHz), n261 (28GHz)

Flat-Rate (Approved Device) LTE Plans:

  • Mikrotik Routerboards** (including but not strictly limited to R11e-LTE-US or WAP Kit US/WAP AC Kit US, LtAP mini LTE Kit US, SXT LTE Kit US, LHG LTE Kit US, Cat 4 versions only, no Cat 6 (see below), see below; including ANY Mikrotik Routerboard with an mPCI LTE module supporting LTE and/or 5G bands listed above, such as Quectel EC25-AF, EP06-A etc).
  • Any router using OpenWRT

If you plan on to using a device not on our list with an "approved devices" flat-rate or unlimited plan, there is no guarantee that services will work at full speed (or at all) and we are unable to provide support for devices we are not familiar with.

If you'd like us to test whether your device(s) will work with these plans, please send a unit to us and we will test it with various configurations so we can determine compatibility - we can also test your device with other carriers if required.

Requires Further Testing:

The below devices are known to work to some extent, but may end up being deprioritized or throttled (or may not work at all). We have also seen instances where some devices will perform perfectly on a speed-test, but not during real world usage:

  • TBD

Flat-Rate (Basic Device) LTE Plans:

The below devices are known to work on the "basic device" plans, and may end up being deprioritized or throttled if used on an "approved device" plan (or may not work at all). We have also seen instances where some devices will perform perfectly on a speed-test, but not during real world usage if used on an "approved device" plan:

  • TBD

Flat-Rate Plan Exceptions (not eligible for use on flat-rate/high-usage plans):

  • T-Mobile branded hotspots (such as Alcatel Linkzone, ZTE Z915, ZTE Z917, MF64 etc) are not compatible with high-usage, flat-rate or unlimited plans and can only be used on limited data plans (2 to 22GB).
  • T-Mobile KonnectONE Hotspot/GPS
  • T-Mobile Home Gateway
  • AT&T branded hotspots (such as ZTE MF275, MF279, Novatel 66xx etc)
  • Most ZTE devices
  • Most Huawei devices (including but not limited to B310-518s)
  • Netgear LB1120 (As of November 1, 2021, lines found to be using this device may be disconnected by the carrier without warning, notice or recourse).
  • Netgear Nighthawk M1 (MR1100-1A1NAS, MR1100-2A1NAS) (Update 5/20/2020: May not work at all on GSM-U - existing devices may continue to work until further notice, new activations not accepted).(As of November 1, 2021, lines found to be using this device may be disconnected by the carrier without warning, notice or recourse).
  • Netgear Nighthawk M1 (MR1100-100NAS) (Update 5/20/2020: May not work at all on GSM-U - existing devices may continue to work until further notice, new activations not accepted). (As of November 1, 2021, lines found to be using this device may be disconnected by the carrier without warning, notice or recourse).
  • Netgear Nighthawk MR1108 (As of November 1, 2021, lines found to be using this device may be disconnected by the carrier without warning, notice or recourse).

Should not be used on the network at all until further notice:

Mikrotik LTE6 variants (r11e-LTE6, SXT-LTE6, LDF-LTE6, LHG-LTE6 etc) can sometimes be problematic to activate & use. The r11e-lte6 chipset in use in these devices does not support LTE Band 4 or 66 (let alone 71), and while some customers are using these successfully, this is not true 100% of the time.
